Warren County 4-H Endowment Fund

What is the Warren County 4-H Endowment?

The Warren County 4-H Endowment is a permanent fund made possible through individual donations, business and corporate contributions, and fund raising events.   Our Endowment account was officially recognized by the Ohio State University Development Fund in 2006 upon reaching its goal of $25,000. Currently, the market value of the fund is over $31,000.  Many local individuals deserve credit for their time and money spent to realize this goal.

Principal is invested permanently though the Ohio 4-H Foundation to generate the maximum interest possible. The interest income returns to the county to fund local 4-H youth development education programs, and adds value to the county endowment to keep pace with inflation.

The purpose of the Warren County 4-H Endowment program is to:

• SUPPORT and enhance new and existing 4-H programs in the county.
• SERVE the youth of Warren County by providing financial assistance for college, camps, and conferences.
• PROMOTE the ideals of youth development through 4-H

A contribution to the Warren County 4-H Endowment will support:

• 4-H scholarships for teens attending state and national camps and conferences.
• 4-H learning aids, slide sets, videotapes, demonstration models and audio visual equipment
• College scholarships for 4-H alumni
• 4-H awareness and expansion (funding for 4-H promotion and recruitment of new members)
• And much, much more!!!

Who manages the interest earned at the county level?

Monies generated through earned interest is handled by our Warren County 4-H Committee, which is made up of 22 adult volunteers and a 4-H youth representative, a member of the Warren County Agricultural Society and the county 4-H Youth Development Educators.  These individuals have a concern for the local 4-H program and distribute money through a formal process. The interest income is placed in the Warren County 4-H Fund, which is managed by the Warren County 4-H Committee.

Is a gift to the Warren County Endowment Fund recognized as a gift to The Ohio State University?

Yes. Contributions are sent to the State 4-H office earmarked for the Warren County 4-H Endowment Fund and deposited with the Ohio 4-H Foundation which is a part of the university's development fund. 

Why is it necessary to have a County 4-H Endowment?

County, state and federal budgets are very restricted, and usually cannot be stretched to provide more than the basic necessities. 

Is my gift tax deductible? 

Yes.  The Ohio 4-H Foundation and the Warren County Endowment program is a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation. Consult your accountant or tax attorney for specific guidance on your gift.
