Last modified 2008-01-02 14:35

Although all of the Extension program areas are involved in the development of successful communities, this program area concentrates on economic and environmental issues that face our community in today’s changing world. Statewide programs include leadership development, land use planning, rural-urban interfacing within communities, environmental education, retention & expansion of business, and tourism.

All About Community Development in Warren County

Programs currently being offered in Warren County are listed below.   For more information, please contact the Extension office.

Land Use & Rural/Urban Interface

Warren County is the second fastest growing county in the state of Ohio and one of the fastest in the country.  Extension will meet with community groups to inform them about the following issues related to land use and the interface between urban and rural populations.
    • Agriculture in Warren County: Agriculture is still the second largest industry in Warren County, but it is changing as the county evolves.  Learn about the agriculture industry in Warren County and how growth is affecting the way farmers do business.
    • Land Use & Zoning:  Learn the basics of zoning to better understand the complex issues facing our local governments.

Environmental Issues

Extension offers programming on many issues related to the protection and improvement of our local environment.  Topics include composting of yard waste, safe pesticide usage and point/non-point pollution of our waterways.  Our website offers a significant amount of information on these topics, or you may contact our local office for more information.

Extension Program Information

Most of the community development work being done in Warren County is planning work with other agencies or in one-on-one meetings. Therefore, few public meetings are held.  However, if one should occur, it will be found here.
